It also depends on the size and location of the event, if it’s a simple PA system in a conference room then pictures will tend to do the job nicely!

It’s good to think about who will be using a microphone and what space will they be in.
If you’re hosting an award ceremony you might want a lectern mic, or if you’re hosting an open mic night then a Handheld mic would be best.
